Overview

In Memoriam WordPress theme was created especially for Christian funeral services and funeral homes. The theme offers variety of page templates, custom widgets and additional stuff which will help to arrange the website in proper and informative way.

preview2a

Before starting working on this theme I looked through many live Funeral Services websites. Mine one differs by white-black, clean and slightly cold mourning look and feel. It has no bunches of design elements, textures, brown-green colour schemes typical for such websites. Mine is more about sadness and mourning than joy and glorifying the life.

Anyway, be kind to navigate the demo, entering each page to get complete impression of what will you get by purchasing this theme. You are welcome to ask me any question about theme features or possibilities by writing me in Comment Box of the Item Page on my ThemeForest Portfolio.

ipnoemock

The theme is ready for any screen size / screen resolution (from 2560 px to 320 px) and here you may view here the screenshots taken on iPhone 4S.

CPTs or Custom Post Types

Theme comes with 5 CPTs wrapped in plugins. Once you install and activate these plugins you will see them on the left side in Dashboard menu (marked with colouful icons):

dashboard

CPT allows to create a set of specific (typically united by certain subject) posts unrelated to main blog posts. If CPTs were a part of the theme, by switching the theme you would lose the content of CPT posts. But, once CPTs are wrapped in plugin you may be quiet about your content. Switch the theme whenever you will feel the necessity but take my plugins to another theme and you will never lose your content.

What if you wish to customise or modify the theme?

Majority of things you might be wanting to change/replace in the theme, you may customise via Dashboard–Customiser without touching the code. Here is a screenshot of theme options (detailed description of what and how to use you will find in Help file):

WordPress Options Panel

However, if you wish to modify theme pages layout, colours, blocks of content, rearrange blocks, replace things, remove features and so on you should know (more or less) css, html, js and WP php.

  1. Hi,
I’m trying to get rid of the sidebar on the default page template (page.php) so that the content of the page displays as a single column. Can you help with this please?

    Thanks, Andy

  2. Hello Andy, thank you!

I did not make full-width page for this theme. Default page template comes with sidebar. You may see in theme description that there is no fullwidth page template among other page templates. However, if you are familiar with HTML, CSS and WP page templates general structure you may try to create your own page template without sidebar based on markup and styles of page.php. Thank you!

  3. Hello.

I refer to my site www.inlovingmemory.com.my which is using the In Memoriam WordPress Theme running on WordPress 4.4.

Can you advise how exactly do we change the placement of blocks on the Home Page? For example, we would like the Grief & Healing Section to be placed after the Latest Obituaries Section.

In addition, can you kindly advise how do we add and remove blocks for the Home Page?

    Regards,
    Gopal

  4. Hello Gopal, thank you!

In regard of your question, you simply work with HTML, it is pretty easy since I divided blocks with clear comments like:

    <!--===============PART II===================-->
    <!--=========================================-->

    <!--===============PART III===================-->
    <!--=========================================-->

Simply copy code of any Part (block) and paste into that very location on the page where you want it. To remove, simply delete undesired blocks. Just note: you might need to make some small adjustments (if necessary). Thanks again!

  5. Hi Virtuti,

Thank you so much for the reply.

Can you be so kind to point me where exactly are these files located? I searched everywhere, and I can’t find/identify them.

  8. Hello…

    I refer to my site:ww.inlovingmemory.com.my.

I am trying so hard to find the right file to edit the part of where the left hand blank bar is.

Can you help in letting me know which file and section to edit?

    Regards,
    Gopal

  9. Hello, screenshot is unavailable, do you mind to explain again? Do you mean home page or any other page? On home page of your site I do not see anything blank. Thanks!

  10. Hello,

This is basically at the other pages – Obituary, Packages, About, Contact.

  11. Hello, it is not an empty space. Page 100% width heading sits there. It is theme HTML structure, if you wish to rework it according your taste you need to work with HTML code in theme files. Thank you!

    ReplyDelete
  12. Hi…

Thank you for replying. I think my explanation was not very accurate. Sorry. My mistake.

I was referring to the space as described in this screenshot (not the space under the red menu): https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B5BQ2dlZ1KT9emxTRy1FdldlZEU/view?usp=sharing

Can you help in letting me know which file and section to edit?

  13. Ah, ok, got it. This is a part of decoration, so called “mourning ribbon”. Just decoration, nothing more. Should not be filled with anything according my design idea. Thank you!

  14. Noted on the vague response and the fact that you didn’t attempt to provide a solution.

  15. Hi…

I would like to refer to the obituary listing. This is one that we have done: http://www.inlovingmemory.com.my/the_obituaries/lee-siak-chong/.

If you were to click on the Facebook icon that’s located right under the main image of the deceased, the link only shows the domain name of the site and not the image of the deceased.

    As for Twitter,it shows:
    LEAVING BEHIND BELOVED
    Wife: Lim Siew Wai
    Son: Richard Lee Yoong Hwa
Daughter In Law: Fennie Lew… http://www.inlovingmemory.com.my/the_obituaries/lee-siak-chong/

Can you provide suggestions on how to fix this?

    Regards,
    Gopal

    ReplyDelete
  16. I know. Regrettably it’s Facebook problem. For example on Google+ it comes with image.
I tried to dig this problem recently, many people try to fix it but I did not find the decision on Internet.
I even tried a couple of external sharing plugins written not by me but other people–same result. It is something in FB code, but in the meantime I cannot figure out what did they change and what to do with absence of image. This problem worries me too and I shall do my best to find a solution. If not maybe I shall try external plugin that does show image. If (and when) I’ll resolve it I definitely make an update for all my themes and you’ll be notified. In the meantime regrettably I have nothing to offer with FB.

By the way, I often notice on my FB friends posts same model: article title and blank space for image, what means that many sites experience same issue.

    Sorry for temporary inconvenience!

  17. Noted on the “if and when” response. Although you conveniently ignored the Twitter and G+ (only the candle shows up) issues as well. I shudder to think who you will be blaming for those problems?

Again, there is no necessity to continue replying to this thread in justifying your inefficiency.

  18. Hi,

I refer to this screenshot: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B5BQ2dlZ1KT9VmFXWFpvd0VvZ2s/view?usp=sharing

This is the dashboard of a potential customer when he signs up using the Family Login Form.

As marked on the screenshot, it shows Plugins Add-Ons, WordPress News and A Notice about Plugins.

Is there a way to disable this?

    Regards,
    Gopal

  19. As you decided to ignore this issue when replying to both of my previous issues, we reckon you decided to bank on the rules of ambiguity.

Thus, as expected, there is no necessity to continue replying to this thread in justifying your inefficiency.

  20. Good morning, i had any questions about this theme..
    1) is ‘t possible add obituary from the frontend?
    2)is’t possible a live demo?
    Thanks,Maurizio

  21. Hello, thank you for your interest!

    1) Yes, sure. A person registers on a website and writes in a text, adds photo, video, details etc.
This is an obituary posted by registered user under name “johnbrown): http://demo.virtuti.info/demonstrations/vt21/?the_obituaries=lorine-white

This is a WP Dashboard where a registered user places his obituary and publishes:

  22. I get this error when trying to install the plugins. “Download failed. A valid URL was not provided.” Why don’t you make them available in the download package? It would make it a lot easier for purchasers of your theme to acquire what we have purchased. Not happy with this. I need these files and promised to have this set up today but I can’t now.

    ReplyDelete
  23. Hello, thank you!
All plugins are included into theme files. When you click on “Plugins” in Dashboard which plugins do you see? And one more question: do you know to access FTP? If yes, when you click wp-content->plugins what do you see?
And third question: you downloaded a package which contains “plugins” folder, do you see this folder among other files and folders?
    Thanks!

    ReplyDelete
  24. I asked you a few questions in order to help you and figure out what is going on. Since you did not reply and did not check anything while rated my theme 1 star, no questions anymore, please.

  25. Does this theme allow you to import any demo content so it looks like the demo version?

    ReplyDelete
  26. Hello, thank you! Yes, xml is included.

  27. Hello dear virtuti,

I have a problem, the CPT plugins will not installed (= Not Installed and Not Acitivated). But in the “wp-content/plugins” folder are the plugins available!
Please, help me. Sorry for my very bad english.
    Thanks in advance.

    Greetings,

    Rolf

  28. Hello, thank you! All plugins are indeed located in “plugins” folder. To install and activate these plugins you need to use TGM (Help file, chapter “Installations and First Steps” explains what to do with TGM) or you can use default WP option “Plugins-Add-New-Choose File etc.

  29. Hello dear virtuti,
    thanks for your quick reaction.

    I have 3 Questions:
1.) I would like to offer several paid layouts for the Obituaries, which is possible with a Obituaries plugin or need it then each layout a plugin?

2.) The login information for the family of the deceased will not be generated automatically, or? As Admin I enclose a User “abonnent”, and change the name to “contributor” ??? I do not understand the process.

3.) The “lang” folder is empty, which is the po file of your theme (
I need more than one language.)?

    Thank yoiu.
    Greetings,

    Rolf

  30. Hello, thank you!

    1) I am not sure I understood your question correctly, there is only one page template (layout) for Obituaries + corresponding plugins (like cpt-obituaries), do you mean you want to have more layouts? Please clarify.

    2) Each one who wants to leave message (condolence) on obituary page (http://demo.virtuti.info/demonstrations/vt21/?page_id=72) should register or login (left side features default WP login feature).
You should check “contributor” in Dashboard-Users (by default it is “subscriber”), read more in Single obituary post chapter of Help file. Also you may read more about WP roles and capabilities here: https://codex.wordpress.org/Roles_and_Capabilities
if you are not familiar well with this part of WP interface.

    3) I did not generated .po but there is a description how to download and use poEdit application (if somebody needs it) in Help file (Translation chapter).
Also I plan to add it in next update + make the theme compatible with latest WP versions (I do that for all my themes, one by one, “In Memoriam” is currently in queue).

    Thank you again!
