Help! I am trying to upload the demo site and I can’t import the theme code. I keep getting an error “Error on page!!! Please reload page and try again.” All the permissions are good for the wp-content folder and I have contacted the host company and there is nothing blocking it on their end. I am stuck and am about to give up and ask for a refund.

ReplyDeleteSometimes it happens that customers get this error trying to import the theme settings.
The error is usually shown because of that settings-import.php file (located in wp-content/themes/pet-rescue/framework/admin/settings/inc) being blocked on server, only hosting provider can remove restrictions.
Besides you can check your site: though the error is shown, there should be nothing critical in it as all the colors and styles have to correspond the ones from our demo.

ReplyDeleteThe latest theme version that includes fix for the WordPress 4.7 is available on the Themeforest. To update the theme just download the newest archive, unzip it and upload the new theme version on your server (please make sure there are no nested folders).
You can rename the theme you used previously (for example, adding “-old” after the theme name) – in this way the old theme will be backuped on your server. After that you will be able to upload the new theme via WordPress – Add new theme. Please note that there is also a need to update the Content composer plugin. Please delete the previous plugin version and install the new one from the pet-rescue\framework\admin\inc\plugins folder.

How do I add an image to the header so it shows up on all pages? I don’t see an option for header image in theme settings -> appearance -> header and adding a heading background image in settings -> appearance -> content does not seem to add the image anywhere with any combination of heading background settings. Adding an image manually in the header custom HTML causes other layout issues.

ReplyDeleteYou can add needed image in Theme Settings – Appearance – Content tab – Heading Background Image by Default and it will be displayed on all new pages that you’ll create. If you need to add heading background image to the existing page, please edit the page and scroll down to the Heading tab where you can set it. It should be helpful.

Thank you for your response. I have tried using those settings as well and nothing happens. I have applied them to both main content settings and page settings. I even tried with just the default image already there and it still shows no image. I have never had a problem until now. Perhaps something from the update?

You can rename the theme you used previously (for example, adding “-old” after the theme name) – in this way the old theme will be backuped on your server. Backed up old theme by renaming it as advised. Uploaded latest version 1.1.7 theme and activated it, went into settings and saved, but still no heading image taking effect…

Hi, is there a quick fix to display the top line on mobile view directly without having to click the arrow first? A client of mine wants to have their address included and it should be visible right away on mobile as well as desktop. Thanks – amazing theme btw!

Before purchasing, is there any way we can do some type of trial period? I want to be able to make sure of what I can change and what I am really able to do with the theme, and if it is the right theme for the website I am creating.

We don’t offer access to the dashboard, but there’s still a possibility to see how everything works on the backend. For this purpose please check this video demonstrating how easily shortcodes can be managed They are taken for another product from our portfolio, but general idea for Pet Rescue is the same.
We’d also kindly advise to check other videos under Features menu item to see other composer and overall theme options. Our customers usually use exactly Cmsmasters’ Content Composer, as they are absolutely satisfied with it.

There may appear some notes about WooCommerce system status but I should note that these notes aren’t critical and can’t influence the theme functioning and you shouldn’t worry about them.

the 4/2017 update is the same 1.1.1 version and file same file name as in 5/2016. Is that correct? There are no instructions on how to install it while keeping all the settings and files intact. I do not want to simply rename the to -old and install the plugin, I just want to current one updated. Thank you.

ReplyDeleteChangelog will be updated shortly, appreciate your understanding. Current theme version is 1.1.8, please update your theme to avoid issues in its functioning.
The easiest way to update the theme is to rename the old theme as pet-rescue-old in your wp-content/themes folder. Then you will be able to upload the new theme pet-rescue.zip via the WordPress admin panel and activate it.
You can also update the theme via FTP by copying all files from the unzipped pet-rescue folder to your existing wp-content/themes/pet-rescue folder, so that the new files will overwrite the old ones.
Please do not worry about the changes you have made through WordPress admin panel, they won’t be affected by the theme update. But in the case if you edited the theme files directly, I can recommend you to make the theme backup and to copy all changes to the new theme version.
Yet also please note you can always see a list of updated files in each theme version in a readme.txt file. This file is located in theme root folder and is always updated with theme updates.

Very nice theme! Do you have any site examples in which a Petfinder plugin is being used? If not, do you think this theme would be compatible with a Petfinder plugin such as Petfinder Listings plugin?

Please note that we don’t guarantee the theme compatibility with the Petfinder plugin, yet you could try by your own, but very likely it will require additional integration, at least styles for it. In fact we do not guarantee the third-party plugins compatibility with the theme and alas there is not much we can advise regarding this as we didn’t test the theme functioning with the named plugin. There are tons of different plugins available and we cannot ensure compatibility with the theme for all of them. Appreciate your understanding.

ReplyDeletei did this, however instead of upating the theme via the wordpress admin panel, i renamed the old theme in the FTP as pet-rescue-old as instructed, then uploaded, the new updated theme via the FTP whilst i was there, I don’t see how uploading it would be any different than the WP dashboard but please correct me if i am wrong (Note i am using a child theme, of the parent theme) i thought this way would work easier / better, than simply overwriting files – in case it didn’t work.
Attempting to update the theme, gave me a WSOD (I think, there were no visible error messages) and said the theme was broken when i was logged in on the backend, and then reverted to using a different theme entirely even though i had a child theme selected.
Can you please shed any light on this as it doesn’t make sense why this wouldn’t work.
I’ve since renamed the new theme in the FTP, and renamed the old theme back to what it was, and re activated my child theme again. I now have the website back to what it was, but obviously want to update, and cannot see a reason why this did not work.

On mobile, half of the month is cut off, not sure if it is the theme or the actual calendar its self. Hope you can answer this query.
